5x PCD with wear bar
This premium metal-bond tool features five triangular PCD (Polycrystalline Diamond) segments designed for aggressive coating removal and surface preparation. The triangular shape deliver fast, efficient removal of epoxy, glue, mastic, paint, and other tough coatings without excessive surface damage.
A built-in wear bar is included to protect the tool body and ensure even performance as the PCD segments wear down. The wear bar helps maintain balance, extends tool life, and provides a visual indicator for replacement.
Our 5x PCD Tooling Is Directional
VeloCutX 5x PCD tooling is engineered with angled cutting edges that are designed to bite into coatings as the grinder head rotates. Because of this geometry, PCD tools are directional—they must match the rotation of your grinder’s head.
Matching the PCD tool to your grinder’s rotation ensures the cutting edges make contact exactly as intended—delivering aggressive removal, smoother operation, and maximum tool life. If a PCD tool is installed in the wrong direction, the cutting edge won’t engage the coating properly. Instead of removing material efficiently, the tool may just skim or chatter across the surface. This can cause premature wear, reduced performance, or even damage to the tool.
More about PCD’s
Definition
PCD (Polycrystalline Diamond) tooling is designed for high-performance coating removal and aggressive surface preparation. Unlike conventional diamond tooling, PCD tools use a synthetic diamond material that is extremely hard and wear-resistant. This allows them to quickly strip away tough surface coatings without overheating or glazing.
How It Works
PCD is created by fusing many tiny diamond particles under extreme heat and pressure, forming a solid diamond segment. These segments are highly resistant to wear, making PCD tooling ideal for removing thick, stubborn coatings while leaving the underlying surface relatively intact.
Standard Applications
- Coating removal – stripping epoxy, urethane, paint, and other heavy coatings
- Glue and mastic removal – removing adhesives from concrete floors
- Thick build-up removal – tackling layers of waterproofing, elastomeric coatings, or membrane systems
- Surface preparation – creating the right profile before grinding or polishing
Key Advantages
- Extremely aggressive removal capability
- Long lifespan, even on abrasive surfaces
- Prevents excessive surface damage when used correctly
- Works on a variety of coatings and adhesives without clogging
Where They Excel
PCD diamond tools are the first choice for contractors facing heavy-duty removal jobs. They excel when speed and efficiency are top priorities, especially in large-scale industrial, commercial, or renovation projects.
